My Favorite Fall/Spring Travel Boots: Teva De La Vina

I used to travel with some Dr. Martens soft leather lace-ups. And while it was made of quality materials and seemingly indestructible, I found it lacking in the comfort department. It did not have a good enough arch and after a full day of walking around in the rain in Berlin, my feet were complaining.

Teva is a company known for hiking and outdoor shoes and therefore has made its mark creating technical footwear. And the moment they start venturing into that sweet spot of form and function, of badass and cuteness, of performance and style, I am irresistibly lured.

I recently scored on these Teva De La Vinas at a deep discount and they are, hands-down, my absolute favorite fall and early spring travel shoe. The rubber sole makes for hours of comfortable walking on pavement all day long. And because they're waterproof (yes, it's made of waterproof leather), who knows? They could even be perfect for winter! Wear it with jeans for a casual day in town or with a short dress in places with an unspoken dress code (like Paris), you are sure to wear them all day without even a shadow of discomfort.

I did manage to test them in snowy conditions, just not sub-freezing conditions, and they worked great. Those rubber soles had the perfect amount of grip I wondered for a second if I could have shoveled my driveway wearing them. They don't have an insulating lining though so perhaps with thick wooly socks, frostbite might not have a chance.

I have long discarded the philosophy of prioritizing cuteness over comfort. I am getting too old for that. I find that investing in fewer stuff that were built to last and built for comfort took precedence. I would never have looked twice at Teva for travel shoes to wear outside of the trail, but I think I'm sold.

Teva, anything you have for summer?
