Best Travel Jacket for Spring: Eddie Bauer Travex Get Away Jacket

I believe that in every female adventurer's and traveler's arsenal should be a good spring/fall jacket. It should be feminine, versatile, and on the technical side.
And this is where it gets hairy. It is quite the challenge finding a good technical light jacket to wear out without looking like you're going skiing. I know, I know, some badass chicks don't like pink and ruffles. But, hey, some badass chicks do want those.

Eddie Bauer's Travex Get Away Jacket, I found, is blatantly a woman's jacket yet it retains enough tough features to make your boyfriend jealous. Although not waterproof and lacking a hood, this jacket will keep you dry under a light drizzle or an under an umbrella for days like today when spring showers are imminent and/or intermittent. I doubt that the jacket's fabric is fully breathable, but it has teeny, inconspicuous vents under the arms so overheating should not become an issue.
If, however, you need something made for the mountains and of Goretex, this isn't it. (And good luck finding one of those that cinches at the waist.) If, however, you need something in your repertoire to wear to rainy, windy destinations, this could be the jacket for you. I will be traveling soon to Seattle, Holland, and perhaps Paris this year and this stylish and substantial jacket isn't one you would be ashamed of being caught dead in (especially not in Paris).
I love the subtle feminine details of this jacket. You can cinch it inside to tighten at the waist for a form fit. The jacket sleeves can be rolled up for days when the weather is a bit bi-polar. Roll up when it gets warm, roll down for the converse.

This jacket also has ruched detail in the pockets, the collar and the back, which I will not pretend I'm not gushing over. And there are generous internal pockets, which again, appeals to the utilitarian women who are used to such features found in ski jackets.

And this jacket has a very stylish collar you can wear two ways, nobody would guess it's a hardworking, technical jacket. I like mine worn up!

I love that Eddie Bauer has introduced Travex, a line of apparel and gear suited for adventurers who travel and travelers who go on adventures. This jacket was obviously built for movement and I love that it doesn't make obnoxious swishing noises every time I move my arms. There is a price to all of these technical features, though, but I'm an advocate of investing in one good piece that actually works and then keeping it for a lifetime.

If you're shopping for a travel jacket for spring (or fall), the Eddie Bauer Travex Get Away Jacket is a great alternative to the trench coat. The upside is, this one won't take up half of your carry on.
