THE STREETS OF
ANAGNI, ITALY
ITALIAN WONDER WAYS SERIES
Sometimes, there are no stories. There is just real life.
And that is more compelling than anything anyone could ever stage.
Is it weird that when people ask me about my trip, Anagni stands out?
I can't tell you why but there is inexplicable joy in finding old Italian men
huddled outside the cafe smoking cigar and just, oh, I don't know.
Dolce far niente.
Old men, old fiats, old buildings. I don't know what else to tell you.
Italy makes age look chic.
I promise you, there is more substance to this town of Anagni,
located about an hour southeast of Rome, than a bunch of old men.
For example, the Crypt of Saint Magnus, adjacent to the Anagni Cathedral,
has some jaw-dropping frescoes still left intact for the most part from the
12th century. But I'm getting ahead of myself. More on that later.
Right now, please just indulge my little excitable heart.
Friends, meet Anagni.

What is Italian Wonder Ways anyway? Funny you should ask. Check out the prelude here.
Disclosure: I was a guest of Italian Wonder Ways and Visit Lazio during this trip, but all opinions
in this and in related posts are my own.
