Mountain Life Goals: South Lake Tahoe, CA

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA

Perhaps one day, my mountain life will look like this.

A house somewhere thousands of feet above sea level where the skies are almost always

blue and the mountain air is always clean and crisp like fresh sheets just pulled out from

the dryer. There will be plenty of big windows that will flood the rooms with warmth and

sunshine and music will subtly stream for somewhere you cannot locate. There will be

places to sit and visit comfortably in the presence of friends, family, or just yourself, with

irresistible books and games like Cards of Humanity strewn around. A wood fireplace is

almost compulsory, as would textured rugs and throws. It will be warm and personal

overall, but also timeless and elegant.

Yes, friends, the house that I am building (in my head for now) to live in when I'm finally

done with this desk job (hopefully in 11 years), will look like The Coachman.

(Or I suppose I could just live here,

that way, I relinquish all

responsibility to them for

making my bed everyday.)

Colorful breakfasts of fresh fruit and granola and pancakes flipped while barefoot

and s'mores dinners will always be a taunting prospect. Just don't be consumed

with paranoia and peer over your shoulder incessantly in close watch of hungry

black bears.

But until such time, I will settle for plenty of staycations in my future at

the Coachman Hotel in South Lake Tahoe.
