MERRY & WHITE
DONNER STATE PARK, CA
Christmas is an extremely special time for me. When I
was growing up in the Philippines, Christmas was that
one time in the year that I got new clothes. And if I’m
really lucky, those came with a new pair of shoes, too.
Decades later, I really don’t wish much for Christmas,
but this year, I got more than I would have asked for –
a White Christmas and a super awesome Cotopaxi
sweater. (I’m not likely to get my third wish – to fit
in my clothes after the holidays, after I’ve eaten my
body weight, mostly in sugar).
I have quite a few favorite things, but in the winter,
there really is nothing I love more than being in
the woods after snow has just fallen. When the air
is crisp and clean, when the tree limbs are heavy with
snow, and when you crunch and sink with every step
into this divine white stuff that fell from the sky.
I am generally skeptical about magic, but here in
the snowy forest a la Narnia lie inexorable proof
that it really does exist.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
May your holidays be filled with magic and joy, beauty and light!

P.S. I've mentioned gear brand Cotopaxi in this blog and my Instagram plenty of times.
They're an outdoor gear brand that dedicates a portion of their profits to social causes
around the world, with the aim to alleviate poverty. I LOVE their gear (not paid to say
that either) and I lived in this Libre sweater and Kusa Bomber Jacket all weekend.
Check them out and get $20 on me by clicking here.
