Hiking in Patagonia: Laguna de los Tres, Monte Fitz Roy

The waters that rush down from the mountains are very pristine, you could literally drink it (and we did).
There is no other place I've been to where such water purity existed!
From this point on, it would get grueling by the minute.
The next 2-3 miles would see us climbing straight up, close to an elevation gain of 1,500' in relative short distance.
If you do this hike, pack all your colorful expletives. You will need it.

And then there we were. And every step was worth it, just as I knew it would be.
Three years was a long way to wait, but as with anything, anything worth waiting for
is bound to be worth doing, frozen lake notwithstanding.

After a quick empanada break, we mustered enough willpower to get off our butts and tackle another short climb to see another glacial lake. This time, the lake wasn't frozen and the incredible blue hues of the lake was out of this world.
We were breathless, but I reckon it's not from exhaustion.

The way back to the town of El Chalten was long, but incredibly beautiful.
The entire hike was almost 15 miles long, and it took us right around eight hours.
It goes without saying that the helado (ice cream) was the first order of business
as soon as we were back in town.
